Formed in 2020 by CEO Simon Browning and industry veteran Miles Hawley, Recipe has been shaped by decades of collaboration and a shared conviction that, in an age of excess, meaning has become the true currency of value.

Recipe exists to design with purpose. To create work that endures – culturally, commercially and emotionally – for brands, businesses and the people who engage with them.

Our practice is grounded in principles refined by Simon and Strategy Director Sarah over more than 15 years, and formalised as Meaning-Centred Design™: a proprietary approach that helps organisations create products, brands and services that positively shape how we live, with impact across health, wellbeing and the planet.

We see design as an act of meaning-making. It gives form to values, translates culture into experience, and influences how people feel, choose and behave. Meaning is rarely explicit, yet always present — embedded in context, carried through symbols, and felt long before it is rationalised.

By uniting strategic precision with creative restraint, Recipe seeks to understand not just what things are, but why they matter. The result is enduring design that cuts through noise, resists trend, and connects deeply with people and their lives.
